Frequently asked questions

Does Chemy detect chemicals or prove anything is being sprayed?

No. Chemy shows real, public data only — it tracks aircraft from ADS-B, forecasts contrail conditions from atmospheric models, and lets you score and log what you see. It does not detect chemicals or prove any program.

Do I need an account?

Yes — Chemy uses Sign in with Apple, so setup is one tap and you can use Hide My Email. An account lets your settings, journal, and community activity stay tied to you. You can delete it anytime.

Does Chemy work without location access?

Yes. If you don't grant location, the app uses a default map location. Granting location simply shows aircraft and weather around you.

Is my camera or journal data uploaded?

No. Contrail scoring runs entirely on your device, and your Sky Journal is stored only on your phone. The only photos uploaded are ones you choose to attach to a community sighting.

How do subscriptions and refunds work?

Premium is an optional subscription billed through Apple. Manage or cancel it in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.

What is the Field & Frequency Lab?

It's an entertainment-only feature that visualizes your phone's magnetometer, plays tones, and shows public NOAA space-weather data. It makes no health or protective claims.
